Gut and Psychology Syndrome GAPS Diet and Protocol

I had the privilege of being Certified GAPS Practitioner and training with Dr Natasha Campbell McBride in London in 2013. Making changes using GAPS for gut health can make a difference in the health for your family or yourself. She along with her late husband used the knowledge gathered in helping their own son to help countless other families.

The GAPS Diet is a natural alternative to help a myriad of health conditions including

  • Autism,
  • ADHD,
  • Celiac disease,
  • IBS and
  • Thyroid problems.

GAPS Protocol

The Gut and Psychology Diet is just one part of a larger GAPS Protocol which includes supplementation and detoxification.

Foods recommended include soups and broths, fermented foods. In addition I have also recipes for bread, cakes and desserts baked with-out grains or without sugar

Dr. Natasha Campbell-McBride recommends that GAPS patients follow the Introduction Diet before going into the Full GAPS Diet.  Furthermore, depending on the severity of the condition, you can move through the Introduction Diet as fast or as slow as the condition will permit.

Digestive System Healing

It is essential to have the book Gut and Psychology Syndrome to implement the GAPS diet effectively. Working through the changes can be a slow process lasting 2 years if the digestive system is very sensitive.

For people with food or environmental intolerance’s and allergies it is best to concentrate on healing the gut wall with the Introduction Diet.  As long as the gut wall is damaged and stays damaged, you can be juggling your diet forever removing different foods and never get anywhere. The GAPS protocol is designed to heal the gut, preventing toxins from entering the blood stream and lowering “toxicity” in the body. Once the gut wall is healed, the foods will be digested properly before being absorbed, which will remove most food intolerance’s and allergies putting you on the path to better health.
